Our Vision...
"Over the past two years, Parent to Parent of Vermont has made great strides in meeting the intent and goals of its strategic plan, creating opportunities for enhancing family support through collaboration, partnerships and connections to communities. As the organization has expanded, the Board of Directors and Parent to Parent staff recognized the need to develop a vision that would guide our path to the future. The vision statement presented here, fueled by families, has been an effort among Board members and staff.  We invite you to share in this vision for families and their children with special health care needs."
- Patricia Prelock, President, Board of Directors
Parent to Parent envisions a world in which:
v Families live in communities where differences are embraced
v Families, health care providers, and educators partner in the care of children
v Families are knowledgeable about and able to access the resources they need
v Parent to Parent is a respected, richly resourced organization that partners with families, policy makers, providers, educators and community members to keep the vision alive

From Our Director...
The needs of families continually determine the direction of Parent to Parent.  We hear from families on a daily basis about their challenges, struggles, milestones and successes.  We've organized ourselves to be able to respond to the issues being raised by building partnerships and collaborative relationships, and tapping all the resources that exist, leaving no stone unturned until the issue is resolved.  In today's climate of economic uncertainty and its potential impact on services and supports for children and their families, we remain confident in our ability to see your vision to reality.  Realizing this vision requires that we build on our present partnerships and look toward creating new partnerships with other members of our communities- our new Nexus grant (see page) inaugurates this phase in our development- it's our promise to be closer to your home and community and we're on our way!
Parent to Parent is a movement begun by families to ensure they have available to them the support, information, resources and partnerships they need for their children with special needs.  The family stories such as the ones you will see in this newsletter and our survey of families begun this summer reinforce our vision and strengthen our collective resolve to attain quality of life for everyone.
When we think about the strategic plan that will carry our vision we continuously ask ourselves, "what does Parent to Parent look like in the future? How might we organize ourselves differently?"  Perhaps there is no single vantage point from which to view the future because politically, financially, and socially, the situation is constantly changing, but we always see community as the cornerstone of our existence and our mission to serve families as our guiding principle.  ©

Fondly,
Nancy DiVenere
