With funding from the Maternal and
Child Health Bureau through our Nexus Grant to regionalize Parent to Parent,
we have developed a new database to provide better data collection and
reporting tools. Improved technology is allowing Parent to Parent
staff to be more efficient in carrying out their work, particularly in
the area of One-to-One Matches. The database is a powerful tool helping
us with the monumental task of connecting thousands of families to each
other and to resources. The additional data we are now collecting
is also critical to helping us evaluate our programs and family needs.
Data collection is also being used in our work with Family Voices and the
Maternal and Child Health Bureau to identify and report trends in health
care and family support, and enhance advocacy efforts at the state and
national levels. Included in this newsletter are some statistics
we have generated that reflect the need for and progress of the Nexus Program
activities and our commitment to creating a local Parent to Parent presence
in more communities.
