Staff & Board Updates
We are very happy to welcome new staff and board members Betty Morse, Michelle Lewis, Sue Luck, Liza Kilcoyne, and Tracey Morehouse
We also thank our departing board members.

Betty Morse, Family Resource Coordinator
I was born and raised in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. My husband and I moved to a small home on a rural, dirt road in the mountains of Franklin County in 1985. In 1989, a wonderful bundle of joy entered our lives and we finalized the adoption of this beautiful baby girl in 1990. As the mother of this child with special needs, I had the fortunate experience of being linked to Parent to Parent for information, resources and a terrific Supporting Parent. This led me to become more involved with Parent to Parent and their helpful staff through their parent evenings, the Medical Education Project, the lending library and by becoming a trained Supporting Parent.
I am thrilled to have joined the staff of Parent to Parent in November of 2002. I am located at the outreach office in St. Albans at the Family Center of Northwestern Vermont. I am honored to support and nurture families, expand the Family Support Programs and connect parents. I also work closely with The Joshua Project, parent support groups, and families and service providers. Together we are making progress and encouraging systematic change, to become more family centered, collaborative and unified.

Michelle Lewis, Developmental Educator
Born and raised in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, I am the eldest of four daughters and from a very close-knit community. My mother joyfully ran a child-care center in our home and from an early age I was in awe of how remarkable young children are. I moved to Burlington to study Early Childhood Development and Psychology at the University of Vermont. Upon graduation, I was hired as an infant and toddler teacher and mentor to undergraduate students.
Among many other wonderful learning experiences, I was blessed to be able to join a study tour of the schools of Reggio-Emilia, Italy in 1999. I was inspired by the true sense of collaboration between policy-makers, families, educators and community members. This was also an exciting time on a personal level, as I married my high school sweetheart in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence during our travels. We now live in Hinesburg, where I also provide part-time care for my eight-month-old goddaughter, Clara.
Having recently joined the staff of Parent to Parent, I feel privileged to work with such a competent and passionate group. Each day offers me the opportunity to collaborate with families and professionals from a variety of fields to provide the best services possible for the children in our community. I continuously marvel at the families that I meet, as they share their personal stories and we embark upon journeys together. It is a thrill to be a part of the Family, Infant and Toddler Program.

A Tribute to Departing Board Members
At our annual Board of Director's meeting in November we regretfully said goodbye to three wonderful people who have served on Parent to Parent’s Board since 1996. It is difficult to have people rotate off the Board who have done so much to support and encourage Parent to Parent in its endeavors to reach out and help families across the state of Vermont. Ruth Dennis, most recently Secretary of the Board and Past President; Jennifer Nachbur, outgoing Chair of the Resource and Development Committee; and Lynn Reynolds, outgoing Vice-President of the Board and Chair of the Evaluation Committee, have all given countless hours of their time to Parent to Parent.
Since 1996 Parent to Parent has gone through many changes as it has expanded the services it provides to families and the health care community. These women have always been willing to step up and provide their expertise and time to make Parent to Parent a great organization. We will miss their contributions to our Board, but all three women have decided to stay on with Parent to Parent as volunteers. Thank you Ruth, Jennifer and Lynn. We applaud your dedication to families with children with special needs.

Sue Luck
Sue Luck is the Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the South Burlington School District. Prior to joining the school district, Sue was the Executive Vice President of the Greater Burlington YMCA. In her role at the YMCA, Sue developed numerous programs for children and families including two of the first EEE/Preschool partnership programs in this area as well as corporate child care centers and after school programs.  She also helped with the re-birth of the Burlington Boys and Girls Club when it appeared to be ready to fold in 1995. Sue served at the faculty level for the YMCA of the USA, did consulting work for educational programs with the United States Air Force, and taught as an adjunct faculty in the Education Department of Champlain College.   She has a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Vermont and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from St. Michael's College. Sue serves on the Board and Cabinet of the United Way of Chittenden County, volunteers for numerous community and school committees and has been on the Board of Directors for Leadership Champlain, Child Care.

Tracey Morehouse
Tracey grew up in Chappaqua, New York. She holds her B.A from Pace University in Pleasantville, New York and attended Columbia University's School of Journalism. Tracey made the commute from the suburbs to The Big Apple to work at McCann Erickson, an International Advertising Agency. After a few years she decided to move to the "real country" and came to Vermont. For the next two years she worked at Jager, DiPaola, Kemp Design in Burlington. In 1994 she launched Kids Vermont Newspaper, a publication for Vermont families; it was a success, providing resources to over 35,000 parents every month. In September of 2002 she sold her half of the company to begin her own marketing and media relations business. Tracey lives in Hinesburg with her four children - three daughters and one son, who range in age from 10 to 4. Tracey's interest in being a Board member comes from parenting a child with special needs as well as a desire to help other parents.

Liza Kilcoyne
Liza, a registered Architect licensed in Vermont since 1989, is president of Gardner Kilcoyne Architects, a small design firm founded in March 2002 and located in the Champlain Mill in Winooski.  Liza has been a small business owner since 1995, when she established her own practice.  Her work strives to be environmentally responsible, technologically innovative, and in the case of historic renovations, sensitive to the historic character of the building.  Liza’s professional experience has covered a vast array of construction and project types including larger scale academic and institutional building projects for St. Michael’s and Middlebury Colleges, various commercial work including many flavors of office space, a public Resource Center for VSAC, an historic coffeehouse, a sport shop, a night club, and a multitude of single and multi-family residential projects.  Liza supports a number of community projects by volunteering her time.  Recently she provided technical support on projects for Parent to Parent, Habitat for Humanity, the Rink Committee for Essex Youth Hockey, the Discovery Museum building renovation for Northern New England Tradeswomen, and Womenbuild. Every semester, Liza makes career presentations to classes at Essex High School and the Center for Technology Essex.  Her office also offers internships to high school and college students each summer. Liza lives in Essex Junction with her husband Jim and their teenage children Emily and Matt.
