Partners In Care Conference

November 17, 2000 Ì Killington Grand Hotel

We are very excited to have Julie Beckett, advocate and "mother" of the Katie Beckett program, to be our Keynote speaker!

Julie Becket will be our Keynote Speaker

Julie Beckett lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Through Julie's unparalleled advocacy, her daughter, Katie, received the first Medicaid waiver in the nation. She pioneered the policy of waiving income limits to establish Medicaid eligibility. Created in 1982, "Katie Beckett" waivers have enabled many families to provide care for their children in their homes and communities, rather than in hospitals or institutions. Julie is an expert in the complex issues of health care financing and is the author of "Health Care Financing: A Guide for Families". She has been honored for her extraordinary work on behalf of children with special health care needs and their families. Julie is a nationally recognized speaker, author, and lecturer. She was the 1991 recipient of the Lloyd Bentsen Award which is given annually to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to family-centered, community-based care for children with special health care needs and their families. Julie is also the co-founder of Family Voices.

Julie will also be doing a workshop on inspirational advocacy.

Other workshop speakers are Linda Rowley of the superb links page: The Family Village. And Jennie Trotter director of the Wholistic Institute. And among local speakers, we will have Connie Curtin from VPIC stay tuned for more - Click here for our Online Brochure with Workshop descriptions!
