ArtsAbility
&
New
Visions Dance
Artsability
is a community–based arts program cosponsored by Very Special Arts Vermont
(new name VSA Arts of Vermont) and Parent to Parent of Vermont. The vision
of ArtsAbility is to excite the imagination, spark the intellect, and empower
children through the exploration of dance, poetry, song, storytelling,
and the visual arts with an emphasis on FUN! With initial funding from
Vermont Council on the Arts, Alex Chirelstein, Executive Director of Very
Special Arts Vermont has extended the original vision of Jayne Bernasconi
to provide opportunities for children with disabilities, their families,
friends, and neighbors to participate in movement, poetry, and storytelling
workshops statewide. Under the creative direction of Sarah Brutzman and
Shawn May, ArtsAbility has become "part of the week" for families in Chittenden
Country.
The New Visions Dance Project is happening around the state: Coordinators: Addison/Rutland County- Jane Elin (802)388-4160, North East Kingdom- Chan'an Mouliert (802)873-3545, Chittenden County- VSA Arts of Vermont (802)860-6220. Call Parent to Parent for more information.
