Throughout almost two decades of service, Parent to Parent has built partnerships and established collaborative relationships with many state agencies, non-profit organizations, care providers, and foundations. The importance of these relationships is vital to ensure the availability, accessibility, and coordination of services and support within communities.  By ensuring that professionals understand and implement family-centered policies and practices when working with families with children with special needs, families can be confident that the communities in which they live recognize, respect, and understand the unique challenges as well as the diverse strengths of children with special needs and the eagerness of families to be fully included in their community.

Partners In Care Conference:
Parent to Parent's annual Partners in Care (PIC) Conference brings together a community of over 250 parents, social services professionals, policymakers, educators, and health care providers from around the state. The format of this day-long conference includes interactive morning and afternoon workshops, which offer all participants opportunities to learn about additional ways in which we can improve responsiveness to children with special health needs, particularly by supporting the practice of family-centered programs & policies.  The conference also includes a keynote speech, exhibits by for-profit and non-profit organizations, the Partners In Care Award and lunch.  click for PIC conference page

Partnerships with Health Care Providers:
Parent to Parent of Vermont staff work alongside Vermont Department of Health Maternal and Child Health Programs to ensure that systems of care are family-centered. As a member of the Family-Centered Care Team of Fletcher Allen Health Care (Vermont's largest hospital), Parent to Parent staff and volunteers work together with health care professionals and others to implement family-centered policies and practices at all levels of health care.

Family Faculty: please view our Family Faculty page
Family Faculty is a constantly growing, evolving component of Parent to Parent. The matching and support of families in the various programs and opportunities described above brings us even closer to understanding the complexity of the lives of families. The willingness of families to share their lives so others will learn is a benefit to everyone: students, faculty, communities, and most definitely, the next generation of professionals and families. With each opportunity to listen to families we also learn about our capacity as a network of support.  Other opportunities underway will be parent panels, presentations, home visits by students, and practicum with nursing students.
