PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
HOSPITAL SUPPORT
It has been a restless night: alarms beeping, nurses coming in and out, child crying. You are exhausted! But it is 8:30 a.m. and you are awake and faced with a new day. The nurses have changed shifts and you wait for the doctor to arrive with the latest update. Someone knocks gently on the door. "Who could this be?" you wonder as you tell them to come in. The door opens and a person is standing there with a smile offering you food. "I have coffee, juice, bagels, cream cheese and fresh fruit. What can I get for you?" This person offering breakfast is from Parent to Parent of Vermont. The Monday morning breakfast cart is a collaborative effort between the Child Life Program at the hospital and Parent to Parent. We bring around the breakfast cart because we recognize that getting out of the room to nurture yourself may be difficult. We are also available to answer questions about the programs and talk a bit. If you happen to be on Baird 5 at Fletcher Allen Health Care keep an eye out for the breakfast cart and check out the bulletin board with information about Family-Centered Care and Parent to Parent.
Families, Parent to Parent, physicians, nurses and administrators continue to strive toward excellence in family-centered policies and practice throughout pediatrics in the hospital. ©
